College for Seniors

College for Seniors was established to provide lifelong learning opportunities within a supportive environment for experienced learners. A variety of courses are offered to stimulate the intellectual, emotional and physical well-being of older adults in order to enrich their lives and enhance their well-being. All courses are non-credit and require no prior formal education, no assignments or exams, and no graded homework.

Where Are Classes Held?
All courses will be offered at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in our classrooms and labs. Some courses include outdoor activities as part of the learning experience.

Who Are Our Instructors?
College for Seniors is designed for seniors, by seniors, with many of the courses being taught by participants. Many of these instructors have led courses in other programs such as UMD’s University for Seniors and the College of St. Scholastica’s Emeritus College. In addition, community members and many of Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College’s own faculty and staff lead courses.

It is important to recognize all of these individuals, as they share their experience and knowledge without payment. As a new program with limited resources, their willingness to do so is what makes it possible for Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College to expand our services to include a robust College for Seniors program.

How Can You Participate?
Take a few minutes to look through our catalog, choose which courses you would like to participate in, and send in your registration to:

Submit a New Course Proposal
We are looking for people interested in volunteering their time while sharing their knowledge, talents, and skills with our College for Seniors participants. The participants are interested in a variety of topics including science, physics, economics, history, travel, art, clean energy, health issues, current events, American Indian culture, writing, philosophy, literature, geneaology, and more. All ideas are welcome.

All classes will be held during the day in two hour sections, preferably 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and can run up to four weeks in length, though one or two week classes are just as much appreciated.

Why present a College for Seniors course?
Those who have presented classes in the past have found the experience very rewarding. In addition, as an instructor you will be honored at the College for Seniors Appreciation Luncheon held each spring. It is a small way of thanking our instructors for their time and expertise. Finally, if you present a class, you can take advantage of our Teach One, Take One special, which means you can take a class of equal or less value for free!

If you are interested in sharing your knowledge and experiences with this thoroughly engaged group of non-traditional students, please complete the Course Proposal and return to: training@fdltcc.edu
